What to see in Gąski - a guide to attractions
A lighthouse, one of the widest beaches in the area, and the peaceful coastline of the Mielno commune. Check out what's worth seeing in Gąski and the surrounding area.
Gąski is a quiet Baltic Sea resort in Koszalin County, Mielno Commune. Located on the Słowiński Coast, approximately halfway between Sarbinowo and Ustronie Morskie, it's a destination for those seeking a wide beach and a quiet retreat away from crowded seaside promenades. Below, we've gathered the most important attractions worth seeing during your stay in Gąski and the surrounding area.
The lighthouse - the symbol of Geese
The town's most recognizable landmark is the lighthouse—one of the tallest on the Polish coast. The tower measures 49.8 meters, and its beam reaches 51.1 meters above sea level. Built between 1876 and 1878, the lighthouse is open to the public. 190 steps lead to the top, and the viewing gallery offers a panoramic view of the coastline—from Sarbinowo and Chłopy to Mielno and Unieście. It's the third-tallest lighthouse on the Polish coast and an absolute must-see in Gąski.
Beach and dunes
Gąski is famous for its wide, sandy beach—one of the widest in the area. The gentle entrance to the sea makes it a good place for a holiday with children. The beach is surrounded by a belt of dunes and a coastal pine forest, and in summer, the marked swimming area is monitored by lifeguards. Evening walks along the shore, with the lighthouse tower in the background, are one of the most enjoyable experiences of the trip.
Cycling along the coast - Velo Baltica
The international Velo Baltica cycling route (EuroVelo R10) runs through Gąski. The local section connects Ustronie Morskie with Mielno, running right next to the beach and mostly on asphalt. It's a convenient way to visit neighboring towns without hitting busy roads.
What to see in the area
Gąski is a good base for excursions. A few kilometers east lies Chłopy, with its picturesque fishing port, where you can buy fresh fish straight from the cutter. To the west is Sarbinowo with its long promenade, and further west is Ustronie Morskie with its pier and seaside cliff. In the Mielno commune, it's worth visiting Lake Jamno—one of the largest coastal lakes in Pomerania, ideal for sailing and cruises. A little further inland awaits Koszalin, with its Chełmska Mountain and observation tower.
Geese are best enjoyed at a leisurely pace – without rushing, with a lighthouse on the horizon and the sound of the Baltic Sea in the background.
