Geese for the weekend - a plan for two days on the Baltic Sea

Only have two days? We show you how to make the most of a short trip to Gąski—from the lighthouse and beach to bike rides and excursions into the surrounding area.

Gąski is perfect not only for a longer vacation, but also for a short weekend trip to the seaside. This quiet resort in the Mielno commune offers everything you need to recharge your batteries in two days. Here's a suggested itinerary to make the most of your weekend.

Day One - Lighthouse and Beach

It's best to start the morning by climbing the lighthouse —one of the highest on the Polish coast. The 190 steps to the top and the panoramic view of the coast are a good way to immediately get a feel for where you are. From the top, you can see Sarbinowo, Chłopy, and on a clear day, even Mielno and Unieście.

After descending, it's time for the beach . Gąski is famous for having one of the widest beaches in the area, with a gentle entrance to the sea. It's a good time for a swim, a stroll along the shore, or just a lazy afternoon on a blanket. In the evening, it's worth staying on the beach until sunset—with the lighthouse tower in the background, it's impressive.

Day two - bike and surroundings

We suggest spending the second day actively. The Velo Baltica (EuroVelo R10) cycling route runs through Gąski, running right along the beach. The local section connects Ustronie Morskie with Mielno, so you can choose a destination based on your mood and fitness level.

Heading east, you'll reach Chłopy, with its picturesque fishing port—a good place for lunch with fresh fish straight from the cutter. Continuing further, you'll reach Mielno on Lake Jamno, where you can take a boat cruise or try some water sports. To the west, Sarbinowo awaits with its long promenade and Ustronie Morskie with its pier and cliff.

Where to eat and relax

In Gąski, Sarbinowo, and Mielno, you'll find fish and chips shops, restaurants, and cafes. Supplies can be scarce between towns, so it's worth bringing water and a snack for the bike route. For accommodation, Gąski offers guesthouses, lodgings, and cottages—it's best to book in advance, especially during peak season.

Two days in Gąski is enough to see the lighthouse, relax on the beach and feel the atmosphere of this quiet part of the coast – without the rush and crowds.
